Abstract : The primary goal of this research is a greater understanding of the physical, chemical and biological processes that control macro-invertebrate biofouling, particularly as it relates to (A) the production of larvae by adults, (B) the supply of larvae to substrata, and (C) the responses of larvae to substata. To realize this goal, we have chosen to examine the processes that control settlement of the common gregarious fouling tube worm, hydroides diainthus.
