Abstract : The second phase of a small-scale investigation of the set-oxidation reaction has been completed. The main objective has been to develop a process for removing the organic material, the copper, and the fluorine in solution in Basin F waste so that a relatively nontoxic product will remain for either secondary treatment or possibly direct disposal. A continuously-fed, agitated reactor was used for several runs, as an approximation to a full-size plant. The overall objectives of this second phase of the test program were to confirm the initial test results and to provide a preliminary estimate of the size of a full-scale, continuous-flow plant. At the same time, an attempt was made to evaluate the oxidation-rate effects of PH, residence time, and catalyst. A secondary objective was to start the development of a mathematical model of the wet oxidation of Basin F liquid so that, after refinement, the model will be available to provide engineering data. -BKA
