Abstract : The correlation peak produced by a time-integrating optical correlator appears on a pedestal. It is advantageous to remove this pedestal to allow the detection of the peak by a simple thresholding operation. This technical note presents two new techniques developed and tested at DREO to remove the pedestal. The new methods are compared for speed and accuracy with the conventional method and experimental results are presented. (MM)
