Abstract : The objectives of the proposed research are to determine the roles of photolysis and biodegradation in the environmental fate of DIMP and DCPD. This determination will entail the gathering of data on photochemical rates in pure and natural waters, data on microbial degradation rates, and data on complete mineralization in natural waters and soils. Using these data, we will estimate the environmental half-lives for each chemical. Associated with these determinations will be the identification of transformation products in each process and an evaluation of soil activation as a method to accelerate decomposition rates. (MM)
