Abstract : This paper examines issues of joint air operations and in particular those associated or related to the role and functions of the Joint Force Air Component Commander (JFACC). It provides insights on the development and implementation of JFACC concepts from a naval perspective (both Navy and Marine Corps) consistent with the authors' experiences and operational backgrounds. Those experiences include command of operational units, involvement in the planning and/or execution phases of Operations Desert Storm, Restore Hope and Provide Promise and numerous JFACC related exercises in both LANTCOM and PACOM. In addition the authors bring joint operational insights gained from sister Service assignments as well as attendance in both joint and Service schools.
