Abstract : To meet the requirements of ".... From the Sea" and "Forward.. .From The Sea", the Marine Corps has developed the concept of Operational Maneuver From The Sea (OMFTS). OMPTS is not a totally new way of conceptualizing amphibious warfare; its concept is timeless. Advances in technology, driven by the requirements of a changing strategic environment, combine to precipitate the evolution of new amphibious warfare concepts. This paper will address the evolution of amphibious warfare leading to the OMFTS concept, the strategic environment which makes the concept relevant to today's world, the philosophy and principles of the concept, and its applicability across the operational continuum. As an evolving concept, there are functional areas which require further development in order for the OMFTS concept to become an operational reality.
