Abstract : Proposed expansion plans for Stapleton Airport involve the construction of a new temporary east-west runway located on the southern tier (sections 7, 8, 11, 12) of RMA. The purpose of this investigation was to locate, identify, and analyze the alluvial ground water system beneath the project site and to identify any potential ground water problems in the vicinity of the two runway alignments. The ground water rights were also investigated to determine their effect on the proposed construction. The work included a review and study of all available literature pertaining to the alluvial ground water system. Field work included constructing 46 new wells and monitoring their water levels. The results of the investigation are presented on maps showing the existing configuration of the alluvial ground water table and bedrock. This data provides the basis for the conclusions and recommendations. jg
