Abstract : The U.S. Intelligence Community has growing concerns about the continued viability of the Intelligence Industrial Base (IIB). What makes up this important portion of the overall U.S. industrial base? What alternative models are available to better manage the Intelligence Industrial Base in light of declining government spending? This research paper explores these and other questions for intelligence and defense policy makers. It suggests roles for Congress, the intelligence community, and industry to play in preserving this critical component of national defense. (AN)
