Abstract : From TZP ceramic materials, precracked ceramic samples were prepared, to explore the precracking method in measuring K sub IC and its influencing factors, and thus a suggestion was made possible on a better method to control the spreading of any fracture; analysis and discussion were made on whether loading speed, phase transformation, residual stresses and other influencing factors could affect KIC of the fractured samples, thus to perfect this method in improving its use in manufacturing applications.
