Abstract : The renovation of the facilities at the New Orleans Site was completed by February 15, 1995 at no cost to the project. The renovation of the Orange Site was 80% complete at the end of this reporting period. Furniture and office equipment were ordered and received for the UNO Site and the Center. Center staff and staff from each Site attended the Ship Production Symposium & Exhibition Conference in Seattle, Washington from January 25 to January 27, 1995. The Center staff set up and operated a booth at the Exhibition. Although the booth was somewhat isolated it enhanced the visibility of the Gulf Coast Region Maritime Technology Center (GCRMTC) The first workshop for the Center was held February 22-23, 1995 at the New Orleans Hilton Riverside Hotel. There were 69 attendees at the workshop, representing 38 maritime industries, 9 government agencies and 4 universities. Five major strategic focus areas were identified for the Center: Catalyzing Change within the Maritime Industry; Integrating Design and Manufacturing; Developing Conceptual Designs for Market Niches ; Developing Life Cycle Cost and Reliability Data Bases; Assessing Environmental Impact of the Maritime Industry. As a further result of the workshop many potential Government/Industry Advisory Board members were identified. A number of these individuals were representative of the maritime industries as proscribed in the Cooperative Agreement and were nominated by the Executive Director to the Government Program Manager (GPM). He in turn approved the final list which is included as Appendix A. (KAR) P. 7
