Abstract : The voltammetric response of Au and Pt microdisk electrodes (6.4, 12.5, and 25 micrometers) in concentrated solutions of organic redox species (nitrobenzene, acetophenone and benzophenone) has been measured as a function of the orientation and magnitude of an externally applied magnetic field (0 - 1 Tesla). A magnetic field effect on voltammetric currents is observed for redox concentrations greater than approx. 0.01 M, and is a strong function of the orientation of the field. Large enhancements (+100%) or diminishments (-15%) of limiting currents can be induced by application of the magnetic field. The observed phenomena are discussed in terms of magnetic field-induced transport of electrogenerated products. jg
