Abstract : This report summarizes image understanding research dealing with many aspects of both navigation and recognition. This research has dealt with the following ten areas: (a) Parallel algorithms, (b)Invariant properties, (c) Image registration, (d) 3-D recovery, (e) Motion analysis, (f) Vision-based navigation, (g) Function-based recognition, (h) Face recognition, and (i) Document understanding. The work done in these areas is summarized in Sections 2-10 of this report. Further details about this work can be found in twelve technical reports issued on the Contract during the period April 1993 - March 1994. A bibliography of these reports is given in Section 11 of this report; the numbers in brackets in Sections 2-10 refer to this list. (KAR) P. 3
