Abstract : The end of the Bi-polar world has increased the requirement for and scope of UN peace operations. This paper examines the current situation in Bosnia from an Operational Command and Control perspective. It points out the shortfalls of force structure, clear direction on both the strategic/operational level and the UN's inability to coordinate their and NATO's efforts. It will also discuss the need and framework for 'robust' peace operations. It concludes with an examination of options for a command and control structure for future UN peace operations. (MM)
