Abstract : This technical note describes the theory of digital in- phase and quadrature (I/Q) demodulation as it is applied in the baseband demodulation of synthetic aperture radar data for the Advanced Detection Technology Sensor (ADTS) operated by MIT Lincoln Laboratory. The ADTS SAR data, and the associated demodulation and image formation algorithms, constitute the application thread for the first two benchmarks in the ARPA program for Rapid Prototyping of Application Specific Signal Processors (RASSP). In this note, the I/Q filter response in the baseline ADTS algorithms is examined, and two alternative filter designs are presented.
