Abstract : The aim of the research was to improve understanding of turbulent combustion in high speed flows. A presumed pdf reaction rate model was combined with conventional models of turbulent transport which were modified to include effects of dilatation dissipation at high Mach numbers. Model predictions were compared with published data from experiments in both low and high speed flows. Encouraging results were obtained, showing generally good agreement between predictions and experiment. Proposals were made for the continued development and testing of the model.
