Abstract : Optical communication between satellites involves the use of laser technology in communicating between satellites, and between satellites and earth station. Since the invention of the laser, there have been more than two decades of research and development of optical communications technology between satellites. The related experiments were conducted by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in the United States, the European Space Agency, the Japanese consortium of Space Development, among others. Space experimental plans for the late nineties were prescribed.
