Abstract : Planning and decision making for battle management are difficult and time-critical tasks. To facilitate the study of these cognitive processes in the laboratory, an army wargame facility (WARFAC) has been developed at DCIEM. This report details the design and implementation of an extension to WARFAC, an expert system opponent. This extension will allow controlled experiments with a single human subject. Initial test results are presented and its possible uses as a research tool are outlined.
