Abstract : This report details the construction of the Mariano Global Surface Velocity Analysis (MGSVA) 1.0 from the Maury Ship Drift Data. The generalized median filter and the parameter matrix objective analysis algorithm used in the analysis are detailed. The applicability and limitations of the MGSVA are discussed, and specific recommendations are made for using the MGSVA for U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue operations. (MM)
