Abstract : A new and comprehensive non-reflecting boundary treatment has been developed for use in numerical analyses of structure-medium interaction. The method relies only on Newton's laws of motion and on the general mathematical identities which apply to all wave propagation phenomena. It therefore applies for all materials regardless of their constitutive behavior and for arbitrary geometric changes (finite deformation). The method has been implemented in a number of codes and is being successfully used' for several different classes of analysis. The verification of the method requires a series of computations. This paper described these numerical analyses and also provides a description of the fundamental equations underlying the new technique. (MM)
