Abstract : The capture and reuse of design decisions and their rationale is increasingly being recognized as very important in increasing software development and maintenance productivity. By using these concepts, the DOD has recognized the ability to achieve a significant reduction in development and maintenance costs on all software development projects. The REMAP model provides the primitives and mechanisms for a structured representation of this information. Our thesis implements a graphical user interface for the REMAP model to facilitate easy acquisition and reuse of process knowledge. Much of the 'informal' components of design decision and rationale may he represented using multimedia documents. The ability to link such documents and search for 'relevant' components of process knowledge from these is a key attribute of the HyperPKM model. HyperPKM provides the capability to link and search multimedia documents distributed in the WWW to the REMAP objects displayed in the graph browser.
