Abstract : Electrostatic sensors were developed, installed, and flown on Scout Vehicle 131R to experimentally evaluate vehicle electrification due to electrostatic charging. The major charge buildup was found to occur during the burning of the main booster engines. Brief background information followed by a detailed discussion on the experimental results are presented. Further electrostatic studies and experimentation are recommended.
