Abstract : The Commander, U.S. Seventh Fleet, asked CNA to assess the security environment of the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) between now and 2010. This memorandum identifies the most probable evolutionary trends for the Indian Ocean Region, with particular emphasis on the largest factor, India. The project's final report, The Dynamics of Security in the Asia-Pacific Region (CRM 95-172, January 1996) discusses the implications of these and other probable trends in the region for U.S. forces, particularly the Navy.
