Abstract : This Report presents the results of a synoptic study of the propagation characteristics of round the world (RTW) high frequency radio signals. The observations were made near Alice Springs using a backscatter sounder. The diurnal, seasonal and solar cycle variations in the signal power and frequency limits are discussed. The measured optimum direction of propagation is determined and compared to a simple model.
