Abstract : Experimental data is presented for the resonant frequencies and associated mode shapes of truncated conical shells with free edges in transverse vibration. A wide range of the geometrical and modal parameters is covered. A semi-empirical frequency equation is developed which can be used to predict the first axial mode resonances with satisfactory accuracy.
