Abstract : Four Class A structural live fire tests fought by firefighters instrumented for temperature, sound and sight were conducted, The intent was to collect information from the firefighter perspective during a live fire event. The results show that visibility in the fire area was reduced to as low as one foot-candle. Sound pressure never exceeded 102 dB. Peak arm and leg temperatures measured within the bunker gear were 570C and 450C, respectively. This test provides a starting point for virtual environment sensor development. Light intensity, sound pressure and temperature parameters for a typical scenario are available to serve as a basis for sensor specification.
