Abstract : A distributed computing technique (DCT) in a network of 15 UNIX workstations is described and benchmark times given for a particular electromagnetic (EM) analysis application. The results demonstrate that the technique substantially improved the turnaround time for execution compared to a single processor system. Extension to an arbitrary network of processors and other applications is discussed in general. The technique is easily implemented and should be considered when a network of processors with a file server capability is available.
