Abstract : Three characteristics of global change data and information challenge the Federal agencies participating in the United States Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) to make their relevant data and information available in a useful format to users. First, there are massive amounts of data and information generated by USGCRP related activities. Second, these data and information are highly diverse, covering disciplines ranging from the physical and natural sciences to the social and economic sciences. Third, the community of potential users of global change data and information is very broad, including researchers, policy makers, educators, private industry, and the general public.
