Abstract : This handbook is organized into ten chapters which comprehensively cover the topic of discontinuously reinforced ceramic matrix composites from theoretical considerations through raw materials and processing to design, applications, and property topics. Chapters on the fabrication, processing, structural, and physical properties, and applications of whisker, platelet, particulate, and in situ reinforced ceramic matrix composites are presented in this handbook. Theory of discontinuous reinforcement in ceramic matrix composites, design methodology, and the reliability of component design are also detailed in separate chapters.
