Abstract : The Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) is developing next generation software for one-dimensional river hydraulics. The HEC-RAS River Analysis System is intended to be the successor the current steady-flow HEC-2 Water Surface Profiles Program as well as provide unsteady flow, sediment transport, and hydraulic design capabilities in the future. A common data representation of a river network and bridge data is used by all modeling methods. This paper presents the bridge modeling approach, available methods, and research results on flow transitions and associated modeling guidelines.
