Abstract : The U.S. Army is proposing a cleanup plan, referred to as a preferred alternative, to address outdoor contamination at the MTL Superfund site in Watertown, Massachusetts. The Proposed Plan recommends one of the cleanup options from among those that were evaluated during the Remedial Investigation (RI)* and Feasibility Study (FS) performed for the site. In accordance with Section 117(a) of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Army is publishing this Proposed Plan to provide opportunity for public review and comment on the cleanup alternatives, known as remedial alternatives, under consideration for the site. The Army is soliciting comments on the proposed level of cleanup. The Army will consider public comments as part of the final decision-making process for selecting the cleanup remedy for the site.
