Abstract : A major requirement of the systematic design of camouflage is to obtain a colorimetric match of the camouflaged object to its anticipated surroundings. This match needs to cover both the visible and, because of the operating bands of silicon based surveillance sensors such as image intensifiers and low light TV, the near-infrared. This report presents spectral reflectances and CIE colour co-ordinates of natural terrain elements in the visible and near-infrared wavelengths (380 - 1800nm). Measurement sites range from Townsville to Tom Price across northern Australia. Complete data sets are available as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and charts.
