Abstract : This study assesses the efforts of U.S. Pacific Command, and its service components, to integrate and synchronize new Joint Counterintelligence Force Protection Source Operations (CFSO) doctrine set forth in Joint Publication 2-01.2. To establish a baseline understanding of terms the study begins by fully defining CPSO and its doctrinal basis. Two historical case studies from W.W.II Pacific theaters, the South West Pacific Area (SWPA) theater and the South East Asia Command (SEAC) theater, are then analyzed along with doctrine to establish historical precedence for CFSO in the Pacific. Two recent PACOM exercises that implemented and tested CFSO concepts are then analyzed to assess the state of integration within the command and the effect CFSO has had on the services and training. Ultimately, this study highlights the fact that CFSO type operations are nothing new, emerging Joint and Service doctrine is sound, and that PACOM has effectively integrated these new concepts into their theater operations.
