Abstract : The Computer-Aided Structural Modeling (CASM) computer program is designed to aid the structural engineer in the preliminary design and evaluation of structural building systems by the use of three dimensional (3-D) interactive graphics. CASM allows the structural engineer to quickly evaluate various framing alternatives in order to make more informed decisions in the initial structural evaluation process. The program was developed by the Information Technology Laboratory in conjunction with the Computer-Aided Structural Engineering (CASE) Project, Building Systems Task Group.
