Abstract : We determined whether the Department of Defense's (DOD) and the services' efforts to reassess and improve their medical capabilities have been properly focused and coordinated to result in the most effective wartime medical system. Specifically, we reviewed DOD'S development, management, and implementation of its Medical Readiness Strategic Plan (MRSP) and the services' medical reengineering efforts. We also examined DOD's ongoing project to identify future wartime medical system requirements.
