Abstract : The Electric Propulsion Space Experiment (ESEX) is a United States Air Force Phillips Laboratory (PL) space demonstration of a 26 kW ammonia arcjet flight system. ESEX is one of eight experiments scheduled to be launched on the Advanced Research and Global Observation Satellite (ARGOS). In support of the integration and flight preparation activities, PL has developed ground support equipment to facilitate ground operations at Rockwell International, the ARGOS Prime Contractor. These include the ESEX ground transporter, a battery rotation fixture, and an ammonia transfer cart. After extensive coordination between ESEX and ARGOS personnel, these components were designed, fabricated, and operationally verified.
