Abstract : In the past few years, much attention has been paid to the problem of solving multi-objective optimal control problems. The main impetus for this type of research is the simple fact that a real system is never limited to a single class of inputs or outputs. For example, it is not uncommon in many aircraft problems to have some inputs well modeled as white Gaussian noise, some as bounded energy and some as bounded magnitude signals. While different control methodologies exist to handle each of these classes of inputs separately, multi-objective optimization methods allow the designer to optimally handle the tradeoffs associated with several classes of inputs at one time.
