Abstract : This Directive reissues DoD Directive 1312.3, dated October 22, 1985. It implements Section 533 of Title 10, United States Code, to update policies and procedures governing the granting of service credit to persons upon appointment, designation, or assignment as Regular commissioned officers, except those in health professions. This Directive implements Section 12207 of Title 10, United States Code, to establish policies and procedures governing the granting of service credit to persons upon original appointment, designation, or assignment as a Reserve commissioned officer, except those in the health professions.
