Abstract : We present a preliminary design of a hardware architecture for computing initial segments of primitive recursive functions and iterative processes. The formulation of the architecture is based in a paradigm which proposes a procedure for (1) encoding a function or process and, (2 ) carrying out the computation. The paradigm is firmly rooted in the formalism of quantum mechanics. We propose as our representation of the architecture a generic regular multiparticle, two-dimensional lattice. This lattice is a model of crystal structures that in principle, can be produced in the lab today.
