Abstract : This report presents the designs of two diffractive optical array generators used in an optical analog to digital converter. The designs follow a procedure developed for the design of general diffractive optical elements. Both separable and nonseparable approaches are considered in designing a 5 x 5 binary phase fanout, and indirect and direct optimizations are discussed for the nonseparable approach. A nonseparable approach is used with direct optimization to design an 8-phase-level 7 x 7 array generator.
