Abstract : Initiated in 1942, the Crash Injury Research project was a jointly sponsored effort by the Departments of the Navy and the Air Force. 82 crashes of surplus, single-engine military trainers formerly used by the Navy and Air Force were studied to determine if civilian pilots routinely used the harnesses and the effectiveness of the harnesses.
