Abstract : The DoD Basic Research Program has long played a crucial role in the development of technology and in the education and training of scientific personnel required to support continuing technical advances critical to maintaining superior military capabilities. This Basic Research Plan (BRP) provides a strategy for maintaining a strong program that is flexible with respect to current budget priorities but also structured to effectively respond to requirements of the warfighter. The BRP complements two other DoD Science and Technology (S&T) planning documents: the Joint Warfighting Science and Technology Plan and the Defense Technology Area Plan. Together the three documents reflect a comprehensive strategic planning process designed to significantly enhance the quality of the overall S&T program.
