Abstract : This Environmental Baseline Survey (EBS) documents a preliminary assessment of the environmental condition of the property occupied by the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center (FAMC) located in Aurora, Colorado. FAMC was selected for closure by the Secretary of Defense in 1995. Nuclear Regulatory Commission license termination and decommissioning is scheduled to commence in 1996. The transfer of ownership of the property to private and public entities will occur over the next several years, and is scheduled to be completed by the year 2001. This EBS is the first step in identifying the condition of the property, the need for environmental restoration, and suitability for transfer. The EBS provides the basis for grouping similar areas of FAMC property and classifying areas according to their environmental condition to support parceling of the property for sale, transfer, and future beneficial use.
