Abstract : In this study, the time temperature profile of a missile exposed to fire in a compartment adjacent to the missile magazine is examined. The study required the development of a heat transfer model based on the geometry and thermophysical properties of a new concept for a vertical launching system, the Concentric Canister Launcher (CCL). Different fire scenarios are analyzed by the model to predict the time it takes to reach a critical value or 'cook-off' temperature of the missile's propellant and explosives.
