Abstract : A deficiency in the ability of the Army to resupply potable water to early phase operations and tactical emergencies has been identified. Currently, early deployed units carry only sufficient quantities of water for immediate survival purposes and host nation resupply of water is provided. Host nation support is often unavailable, bulky, impractical and expensive. A Packaged Water System (PWS) would be utilized to package potable water produced from the Army's water purification units - ROWPUs. In response to this need, a market survey was conducted by the Water and Wastewater Team of the Fuel & Water Supply division at the Mobility Technology Center, Belvoir (MTC-B). The purpose of the survey was to determine if there are commercially available water packaging systems that could possibly meet the Army's requirements. The survey revealed that there are a number of PWSs available commercially. Each system represented had advantages and disadvantages. The systems were assessed in relation to eight factors specified in the Operational Requirements Document (ORD) for the Packaged Water System. The results of the survey are documented in this report.
