Abstract : Direct digital control (DDC) of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment has become a popular building retrofit. However, converting a building to DDC will not always save energy. In fact, it is not uncommon for energy consumption to increase after installing DDC equipment.
