Abstract : This volume, the first of three volumes, is a collection of 66 Unclassified (unlimited distribution) papers which were presented at the 1st Navy Independent Research/Independent Exploratory Development Symposium that was held at the Johns Hopkins University, Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland on June 20-22, 1988.
