Abstract : Statistically designed screening experiments were conducted to determine the significance of various parameters on the hydrogen content of bright and dull cadmium plated 4340 steel after baking. It was shown that the baking time was essentially the only significant variable in determining the final hydrogen concentration as determined by the barnacle electrode. However, variations between batches were found to be significant for the dull cadmium plated material.
