Abstract : This report presents findings from the Fall 1996 Youth Attitude Tracking Study (YATS) survey administration conducted by Westat during the Fall of 1996. Findings cover results from questions on enlistment propensity, advertising awareness, recruiter contact, and slogan recognition among American youth between 16 and 24 years of age. Findings are presented separately for males and females by demographic factors such as age, race/ethnicity, school status, employment status, and region of residence. Interviews were conducted with approximately 10,200 youth between September 3 and November 20, 1996. Interviews lasted approximately 30 minutes and were administered using the computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) methodology. Youth who participated in the survey were part of a cross-sectional sample of the population which was selected by a list-assisted random digit dialing (RDD) method.
