Abstract : The Combat Arms Training and Maintenance/Gunsmith career ladder, AFSC 3P1X1/A, was surveyed to gather data needed to evaluate the effectiveness of training to ensure members are receiving training for the right type of equipment; to validate training requirements; and to verify changes within career ladder, technical training, and career development course materials. Combat Arms Training and Maintenance personnel instruct in ground weapons marksmanship, operate firing ranges and associated equipment, and inspect, repair and maintain ground weapons. The 'A' shredout Gunsmiths disassemble weapons, analyze malfunctions, adjust weapons parts and operating mechanisms, fabricate small parts, repair parts, test fire and boresight guns, and perform other maintenance on various weapons. Survey results are based on responses from 863 Active Duty (AD) (531), Air Force Reserve (AFRES) (154), and Air National Guard (ANG) (178) personnel. Skill levels and paygrades were well represented.
