Abstract : An important goal of current breast cancer research is to develop an in vitro system that can define the mechanisms involved in the progression of human mammary epithelial cells (HMEC) towards a transformed phenotype. In this project, we have focused on an aspect of HMEC behavior that is likely to be involved in this progression, namely, the correct spatial sorting of growth factors and their receptors to discrete cellular locations.
